Featured Forgotten
What do you call
a man who was once the number one box office star in the world for five years in a row, yet today
does a one-man show in Clearwater, Florida? Burt "Once Famous" Reynolds. That's right,
the Bandit from Smokey and the Said is now doing a one man interpretative gig at Florida's
geriatric cities- or at least was last year. His website has not been updated since 2002.
The site itself is rather concise. Links are promised but only one exists. A brief bio gives
the highlights of Burt's career- but offers fans no real insights. Perhaps most disappointing though,
the "downloads" section fails to provide visitors with a "Burt and Lonnie" screensaver. Alas.
The good thing about Burt is that one gets the feeling he won't be once famous for long. Just as
he returned powerfully to the screen in Striptease and later Boogie Nights, one
suspects that he'll be back in force soon. If Travolta can do it- Burt certainly can.
One other thing- Burt's gone decidedly gray in his old age- and looks sharp doing it.
So here's the once famous Featured Forgotten site for this month.
Our only complaint is that it's too humble- there is no mention that Burt was drafted by the Baltimore Colts....
The site, is at:
www.burtreynolds.com
THE "FF TALLY"
Site Design: 4 1/2 Stars- Easy to maneuver, attractive layout, and older
design but it works- very Burt.
Site Content: 3 Stars-
Limited but gives the basics. Not enough on Burt's political views- what say you on economic
developments in East Timor, Reynolds?
Self-Humiliation Level: 1 Star- Granted, doing shows in Florida isn't
exactly Rent-a-Cop, but one suspects Burt's in it for the artistic effort. Also, the name "Burt"
is rather silly, but that's not really his fault.
